    May I add 1 constuctive thought -

GLW is really getting thier house in order(so it seems) from a cost standpoint. If they ever have an uptick in sales, it wont take much to make a real impact on their bottom line

Now they are trying to survive. But things will pick up and they wont have to do nearly as well(from a revenue standpoint) as before to make just as much money.

    • Moves necessary to survive right now IMO. As nearly as we can tell these cost cuts, if actually done, will get us back to about 1999 cost levels, probably still too high.
But, if they do get costs down, perhaps they can at least be decently profitable in 2004.
With the price decreases they are seeing, it will be tough, but doable with some tough, no nonsense top management control. Jamie knows how, Wendell is clueless IMO. We shall see.
