George Bush and Dick Cheney did a remarkable job in this age of islamic extreme terrorism in kicking Al Quieda's and Taliban's rear ends bad! It has been a remarkable job - and the world owes them their thanks.
Hopefully we will not revert to the pre Bush & Cheney days where jawboning was the only tool used against terrorism and where we were afraid to take it to them. Words won't do it.
"And now that the boom is over, the bankers, led by Mr. Bernanke, want us to eat their losses."
"One plan has the government buy the bad loans. Why? Why don’t the bankers reveal what these loans are and sell them in the market? Such sales will reveal that their assets are worth even less than what the market now thinks."
While the intelligence about WMD was wrong, almost everyone got that one wrong.
Their biggest boondoggle was Cheney insisting that we would be treated as liberators. Thus, they had no post-invasion plan. So, they made up their strategy as they went along while failing to include supportive Iraqis. Who was that idiot they put in place to run the post-invasion? Bremer?
Personally, I'd give Bush and his administration a D+ for the above in Iraq, diverting the military from Afghan, their blind eye to financial regulations and their massive spending. I'd give them credit for no more US terrorist attacks.
