I guess Trol's Penn #49 salt water rig with 60# line could not pull this Great Lakes drain plug out.
Since it's in the 7" cemented casing, the only options are to either drill & cut the cemented pipe out, or drill a long offset around the 1800' plug. But the big drilling rig was removed, the 4.5" max OD coiled tubing from the workover rig can not drill another offset hole big enough for the new 7" casing. The best option seems to be drill and cut by coiled tubing, piece by piece, to remove the entire 1800' cemented pipe.
After Slawson removed this 1800' hardened cement & steel pipe plug, Billabong may become one example to be used in the Petro Engr text books.
Trol you can't fish lakers with heavy line, trout #$%$ when it rips through the water. You're better off with light weight 6# line tops with a three way swivel about 4 feet from swivel to lure. I'm up in Sault Sainte Marie locks at the ACOE do you need to hold the gates so you can top fish the flooded shores?
