I was wrong. It's 0.75% for the year. I get charged on a semi-annual basis and that tripped me up when I glanced at my spreadsheet quickly to answer your question.
What was my hurdle again? 4.5% cash + 0.75% storage fees = 5.25%
Silver closed at $8.80 at the end of 2005. Today it's $9.15. That's 3.97% in the bag so far.
1.27% to go for the year......
LOOK FORWARD I have no idea when or why you guys bought silver,we are talkin 06 and FORWARD,no? I'm buying high quality div paying stocks @ a big discount which kicks my yield in a low yield world and cushions my downside in case of a sell off. I'm betting that IF Buffett had a gun to his head he would turn the 40 BILLION over to me,not you,but that's just a guess. Being 50 % silver on its face is risky, end of story.
Todd has this right as far as WHEN he bought.
HC I really think you are taking your eye off the ball on silver.
I cant SSSSSSSSSSSS T T T T RESSSSSSSSSSSSS
its a deficit. Silver is in a deficit.
I guess it depends on your definition of "risk".
I don't think silver is risky when I bought it. If you're buying a metal below the cost that miners can profitably dig it out of the ground what risk am I taking? I also look at silver as a "cash" position. If there is a big adjustment due to the trade deficit I will retain my purchasing power in silver but those holding dollars will instantly lose theirs.
ok,good luck with it. I'm taking brk, dcs, and gdv, total return,I'll even equal weight them,vs your silver,we'll revisit jan 07. I'm sure you know you are taking just a bit more RISK then me,but that's ok. Don't forget my divs bro,TOTAL RETURN,those divs spent @ the t-bars adds serious value!
