If I were in WEB's shoes, I would think that the
dropping price of GRN & BRK since the acquition
announcement would be of great concern. Remember that the
shareholders of GRN are the main ones that are going to have
to approve this deal (not withstanding the SEC and
other regulatory agencies).
I think it makes
sense to stabalize market price of shares during the
acquition process. A bunch of nervous GRN shareholders
could kill the whole deal.
Since the formula of
the acquition has been announced, GRN & BRK prices
move, more or less, together. This could be of concern
to GRN shareholders, as well. They are tied to BRK
shareprice, like it or not, and if they feel their value is
being eroded, they may want to bail out of the

to see that the IV of BRK hadn't gone down, though
the market price did, to buy in or buy more?
when you try to keep secrets, the secrets get out
to a few who profit off them. quicker you get the
info out, the more level you make the playing field.
so i cannot fault web for putting out results now.
it does, as you say, stablilize price. lots of
people (bill gates, e.g.) would no doubt keep the secret
while buying more shares & exercising more options at
mistaken low price.
