Being a value investor, one of the tools i love to use is a historical price analysis. I do this by compareing past years earnings to P/E ranges. From my research the historical P/E of MAIN has been 12 at the low end and 16 on the high end. using these limits we can see how the current price compares to this years earnings and future earnings. Using project 2012 earning of 2.06 we get a price range of 24.72 to 32.96. Based on next years projected earning of 2.21 we get a price range of 26.52 to 35.36. Based on this we now set $5 of the top of the range for next year so I'm a buyer at the stock pulls back toward that price of 26.52. Preferably i would like to get my DCA (dollar cost average) as close as possilbe to the 26.52 as possible.
