the article in the toledo blade seems to say that deutsche banke has been chosen as arranger for the loan package, not that the loan has been made. The article does state that OI will get the loan, which has been a worry on this board. What does it mean to "pledge assets" to get the loan? I thought in all loans, especially of such a huge size, there was an asset pledge, in the sense of, if you don't pay, then your property is mine. I'm guessing, but perhaps what is meant is that the banks would have a claim on OI assets prior to asbestos claimants.
Deutsche Bank is the company's long time lead lender dating back when you knew them as Bankers Trust. This loan will be syndicated to more than 100 institutions. Who lends the money is not important but rather WILL they lend it. In this case they will. In fact all they are doing is extending the maturity a few years in exchange for higher rates and collateral. No-brainer.
