    Obamacare, got doctors

** Pharmacists and optometrists could act as primary care provider**

What Obama really meant when he said "you can keep your doctor"... you need medical help, go to your Pharmacist, or nurse practitioner. Another Democratic lie..."you have to pass it to know what is in it"

You dopes on the left sure are a gullible lot...better be careful what you wish for.

State lacks doctors to meet demand of national healthcare law

SACRAMENTO — As the state moves to expand healthcare coverage to millions of Californians under President Obama's healthcare law, it faces a major obstacle: There aren't enough doctors to treat a crush of newly insured patients.

Some lawmakers want to fill the gap by redefining who can provide healthcare.

They are working on proposals that would allow physician assistants to treat more patients and nurse practitioners to set up independent practices. Pharmacists and optometrists could act as primary care providers, diagnosing and managing some chronic illnesses, such as diabetes and high-blood pressure.

"We're going to be mandating that every single person in this state have insurance," said state Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina), chairman of the Senate Health Committee and leader of the effort to expand professional boundaries.

    • My Grandfather was a revered Opthamologist/Optometrist....His son was also; recently retired. My uncles' son; being my cousin, broke ranks and became a hand specialist...and also married a hand specialist. They are a Duel doctor household.

I can't wait to ask them if they plan on Multitasking in their practices!...

    • What's wrong with an educated and experienced Nurse Practitioner in diagnosing common cold or flu, ear infection or similar at a fraction of the cost?
It is done all over the developed world, has been done in Europe for decades, and somehow it is OUR health services rank that is FAR below those of Europe, not the other way around.

      • The nurses UNION just came off a strike here (MN) demanding:
        1. Being staffed properly - currently under staffed, doing too much over time!
        2. Can NOT handle the patient workload and doing doctors (non nurses) tasks already!
        3. Demanding an increase in pay because of above!

(I can just see the first malpractice law suites against nurses if they perform doctors diagnosis-tasks)

Dentists take no longer patients with Medicaid/medicare unless they qualify for a loan, pay cash or credit card and as to my dentist, like others state, that many deceases start with bad teeth!!!

More problems to come as Obimbocare is going out of control and pricing people out of the market!
