Yes, the shorts have definetly taken this down. Those monthly numbers only reflect open short positions left to cover, they do no contribute to shorts that has covered within the month. If I short on the 15th and cover a week later, this will not effect the monthly number.
Which came first "The Chicken or the Egg". Shorts can cause the longs to cave in due to the fact there is no uptick rule! Granted MPEL has not performed up to par yet, but the shorts have had a big impact on the PPS of this stock.
Technicly that is true, but I disagree. If enough shorts can drive the price down with such pressure, which in return causes longs to give up or hit stop losses, the pressure is not equal. Short Selling + Longs Selling then Short Covering. Downward pressure 2-1 ratio
