They don't want to sell wireline-- sure they may sell or be force to sell unwanted areas to gain desired areas, but why does this silly argument have legs? It’s no secret that cell towers backhaul to CO’s. What they want to do is to reduce the cost of doing the wire line business. Now this is where the argument should be. 1) Many things can be contracted out, and I believe that is where they are headed because they can fire contractors who do sloppy work, but it is not so easy to fire union employees. They can also control labor rates by contracting technicians as well. 2) They are using better equipment, and more fiber rings to eliminate a ton of central office wiring. 3) they will retire the old TDM switch network for dial tone, etc.
Ricky, if you think they are selling wireline..... Your drinking the koolaid. If you think you can actually do telephone work.... Your drinking the koolaid. If you think that your coporate bigwigs care about lower management....your drinking the koolaid. If you don't think as soon as this contract is done they are gonna start trimming the management fat...... Your just plain dumb. STICK WITH THE UNION
Climbing poles??? Hahahahahahahhaha. You managers can barely get out of your chairs. You guys will go out I'm the company trucks.... Try not to hit anything..... And pray to god they don't ask you to fix anything, because you don't even know how to get the ladder off the truck. If managers are the company answer to a strike the Union wins
Beleive me any collection of people who would vote for Obama because they were told to are not that smart. Im sure it won't take long for managers to figure out how to do your job and probably wonder why it takes so many of you to do it. A strike would be a excellent opportunity to reduce force once the true nature of you work is discoverd. Go ahead and stike at your on peril
