"Clarence Darrow (April 18, 1857 – March 13, 1938) was an American lawyer, best known for having defended teenaged thrill killers Leopold and Loeb in their trial for murdering 14 year old Bobby Franks (1924) and defending John T. Scopes in the so-called "Monkey" Trial (1925), opposing William Jennings Bryan."
“…defending John T. Scopes in the so-called "Monkey" Trial (1925)”
Are you somehow suggesting that John Scopes is some kind of bad person or criminal for teaching evolution? Why would that not surprise me in the slightest?
I invite you, jon and your fellow cronies to go rent Inherit the Wind – either version, the original 1960 version (which was just on Turner last week)with Spencer Tracy, or the ’99 remake with George C. Scott and Jack Lemon. For those who’ve never seen either, you’ll see a masterful tale of ignorance, intolerance, bigotry and everything that winjondale represent. I don’t know how anyone in this day and age, would castigate Clarence Darrow for defending John Scopes. Unbelievable, but not surprising.
Watch it tonight before you vote tomorrow, just so you know into which direction you really want this country to be headed.
