Does anyone know if "Sequester Day" is a National holiday?

Just wondering, because I heard a speach made by Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) where she opined that "over 170 million jobs" could be lost because of "sequestration".

Wow that's a bunch of jobs.

Kind of makes me wonder, if those jobs were lost, where they went?

Maybe if we leave them alone.

    They will come home.

Wagging their unemployment checks behind them.

    Sorry couldn't resist.

Regardless, happy "Sequester Day" everyone, and I hope everyone went out and bought a nice "Sequester Day" present for their favorite democrat.

I had one for ricky on Tuesday, but Janet Napolitano wanted to wrastle me for it, and I lost.

So ricky you are going to have to wait a little while for me to find something really special.

    • It was also reported this morning that income has dropped to the lowest level in over twenty years. Prices going up, taxes going up, income going's that for a recovery?

Then we have Mr. Crisis failing to lead anything but a parade to Air Force One for yet another campaign trip...I guess when he told everyone that he won, he forgot that he did.

He calls a meeting to discuss options on the very last day possible and after Congress left town, which I am sure was a surprise to him as well since he hasn't been in Washington long enough to know their schedule.

What a massive failure in leadership and common sense! He cares nothing for the American people, only that his political will and that he gets his way.

    • Economists think this will slow GDP growth by at least 0.5% this year. Moody's estimates that the payroll tax increase will reduce GDP growth by 0.6% this year. You may think this is reason to celebrate, but I do not.

By contrast, the increase in marginal rates on the wealthy is not expected to impact the economy. Neither would the long-term reduction in entitlements proposed by Obama.

Your "solutions" gut the economy and gut the middle class. This is not a formula for long-term deficit reduction. It seems to me you Tea Brains are still trying to make Obama a one-term president by dragging down the economy. It didn't work in 2012. I imagine I will be collecting my gift in 2014.

    • froggnot, Happy Sequester day!
The 170 million jobs took a left turn instead of a right so they ended up in China. They refuse to come home until Obama leaves.
A good present for ricky is a mirror so when he looks in it he'll see echo, Its only a suggestion

      • Great idea!

Maybe we should think about buying some "Happy Sequester Day Poles" for the newly unemployed who lost their jobs.

Then in celebration the democrats among them could gather around the "Happy Sequester Day Poles", light candles, and have the "Airing of Grievances" about Republicans and of course George Bush.

After that, everyone could sit down for the traditional "Happy Sequester Day Dinner" where a union boss will pray for our "dear leader" and for all Republicans to get food poisoning.

And finally after the "Happy Sequester Day Dinner", where the Republicans were forced to eat the traditional "Fetid Food for Republicans", there would be the "Happy Sequester Day Feats of Strength"
where the democrats would berate and chastise the sick Republicans for being Republicans and for eating the "Fetid Food for Republicans".

All in all, I think this kind of celebration could really catch on with all of those people who have lost their jobs, and are forced to live on food stamps because the Republicans didn't realize that the President and his party were only kidding when they came up with the idea of sequestration in the first place.

I can see it now, with little Bob Woodward, barely able to stand under the "Happy Sequester Day Pole", while leaning on his crutch (because the Republicans kept him from getting proper medical care) and saying these words:

"In your heart you know he is right."

        Happy Sequester Day everyone
