The Associated Press announced Monday that the DOJ stole two months of telephone records of reporters and editors without the news organization's knowledge. The records stolen by the department listed outgoing calls for the work and personal phone numbers of individual reporters, for general AP office numbers in New York, Washington and Hartford, Conn., and for the main number for the AP in the House of Representatives press gallery, according to attorneys for the AP.
This is a systemic problem in this administration. The motivation for the Justice department to seek these records was because they had 'reviewed tens of thousands of documents' according to their own press release and still didn't have a clue to the identity of the 'government' employee is that was leaking information to the press.
They had no choice but to break the law due to their inept investigation skills and because of another poor hiring decision.
Again, just another example of the lack of leadership and integrity within this administration.
