    "We can't survive on $7.25."

NEW YORK (AP) — Workers at McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's restaurants across New York walked out Monday in a one-day strike to demand better pay and the right to unionize, calling for minimum wage to more than double from $7.25 to $15 an hour and the end to what activists called "abusive labor practices."

Maybe it is time to support these poor people and stop eating at these "abusive" fast food restaurants.

Maybe it is time to make NYC and other major cities fast food restaurant free zones.

Maybe it is time for the American public to learn how to make their own fast food, and relearn the lost art family dining at the family dinner table instead of the family car.

Maybe it is time for the American public to learn the joys of eating a home made meal without the need of identifying the nutritional content of that meal.

Maybe it is time to relearn the joy of drinking down a refreshing beverage without caring if that beverage is over 16 ounces.

Yes America it is time to stop supporting those "abusive" fast food employers who supply our economy with thousands of entry level jobs for low skilled workers, who have ever shrinking opportunities for employment in today's economy.

Yes America it is time to stop the madness.

    • The problem here is these low-lifes don't want to invest in theeir own education and training to get better paying jobs, instead they want to tell those who invest their own hard earned money into a business and have heir money at risk just so these lazy slobs can live better without doing anything on their own to improve their lives. farther, anytime these bozos get a raise prices go up and they are no farther ahead then before. The government makes out the best because it gets more tax revenue from the higher income, however, I doubt these low-lifes pay taxes..

    • Fire them all, except the part time students who appreciate the job for the most part.

    • What many people forget is that a lot of people working at McDonalds or at similar jobs are making over minimum wage. Also, many of them are teenagers with part-time jobs who are supported financially by their parents. Their paychecks are all discretionary income. We could double the minimum wage, but what good would it do? Jobs would be lost and prices would rise. Increasing wages doesn't automatically increase productivity.

    • The minimum wage should be phased out. Let the market decide wages, and people will be better off in the long run.

    • No. i think it is time to fire and hire more workers is all. those jobs aren't meant to raise a family on.

    • Maybe there is some hope for the people of NYC:

"NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City's crackdown on big, sugary sodas is staying on ice.

An appeals court ruled Tuesday that New York City's Board of Health exceeded its legal authority and acted unconstitutionally when it tried to put a size limit on soft drinks served in city restaurants."

Maybe there is finally a #$%$ in the madness we call nanny Bloomberg, and the good people of NYC will be able to enjoy a refreshing beverage without caring if that beverage is over 16 ounces.

You won't have much of a choice because the price of a burger will double. In the end the consumer pays for it. Maybe China can make our fast food burgers and ship them over. Everything else seems to be made in China. For example, the stopper in my toilet starting leaking the other day. So, I pulled the tank lid to take the old one to Home Depot to search for a replacement. Guess what? The inside of the tank is stenciled: Made In China.

    • That is why these people are only worth minimum wage. They are too dumb to realize that the minimum wage is one of the main reasons for unemployment in the USA. We are in competition with the rest of the World where well over half the population would be very glad to get $7.25 for a ten hour day; some even for a 40 hour week. If they want $15 per hour get a bucket and a squeegee and wash windows. Plenty of room for promotion as you move up to higher floors.

      • My grandson is working for minimum in a restaurant while he goes to college for an engineering degree. He lives at home I only worked for minimum for a brief time when 17. My daughter worked at Jack in the Box while in her senior year of high school. If you have any smarts those jobs should lead you to something better.

If you raise the minimum wage; all wages up the line will also be raised. And guess what; the minimum wage is still the minimum wage but due to the insidious taxes like the employer's share of social security, Medicare, unemployment taxes; costs of products and services go up disproportionally and lo and behold; the new higher minimum wage has less buying power than the old one. Government wins, workers lose.
