Are there any Bargained for, Legacy ATT Retirees out there? I'm trying to determine if our Plan Administrators 'Hewitt' are blowing smoke or not. What are you being told your contributions will be for 2014?
The SPD says one thing, all the people at Hewitt I've spoken with say another. However, they do NOT know how to read the SPD. And for all others, I do own shares of ATT.
Retired, on Medicare the Company plan is a supplement with our cost for my wife and I will be $120 more per month for 2014 than it has been for 2013. Not sure why so much of an increase but much more of an increase than in previous years. My guess is that Obamacare is part of it.
It's possible that Obamacare is part of it., however, you are entitled to know exactly how they reached this dollar amount. If you are bargained for retiree, then it is my understanding that the contract and SPD are the 'law' that we are to live by. The present SPD says one thing, all the Hewitt employees keep telling me something else. I've asked for a copy of my calculations which they finally said I can have. Thank you for responding. My advice to you is don't just believe what they say. Make them prove it to you.
I've got to do some checking. I retired in 1983 (Early Retirement Plan) I'm paying $295 per mo. for my wife and I. Just bumbed up from $245. AT&T benefits MAY pick that up. It's been confusing with a recent move from CA. and having Kaiser with NO deductible and NO monthly payment.
Your Company 'Employee Benefits Dept.' should have all info. and answers !!
Not much help to you from my case .. but about 15 yrs. ago (now retired), my utility company negotiated with IBEW to take over my prev.H.C. contributions along with the Company portion.
We were self-insured, and still with BC/BS handling the paperwork - I'm assuming BC/BS is my "plan administrator" ... but Employee Benefits is who I call for questions, or if any problems arise !!
I haven't heard of ... or recieved in writing, any changes in my plan "YET" ??????
... still holding my breath that 'I WON'T ????? .....
Thank you jac.sprat28 for your reply. ATT also self-funds with Hewitt administering. So far all avenues have landed me back with Hewitt employees telling me various interpretations of why my healthcare costs will be so much more than the Summary Plan Description (SPD) says it should be. I am just trying to reach someone that can give me something in writing that tells me how my cost is being calculated .
