It was my understanding that there was no discount applied to the purchase of stocks through its DRiP program. I do believe that they used to have a discount, but was discountinued a while back. The 2% discount is definitely a great move and would push me into purchasing other shares.
AWK did have a 5% discount 2 years ago. The 2% starts in May.
It is rather amazing that the stock has gone down. It looks like the other utilities are doing the same. It is a typical late spring letdown, at least to me it seems that in May we see a decline thru early June, then another bounce once the end of the 2nd quarter appears then the fall in the fall.
Also, the utilities sometimes are a precursor to the market, sometimes the market lags by six months. This could be a warning. But then, I could be chicken little and the sky is falling.
