Today's earnings are really not impressive. The one time gain of over $200 MM means they may have actually made less than Q3, 2010 in terms of real earnings. Typical market over-reaction, though their financials are hard to read.
If you don't mind another losing quarter if you take out the one time gain and a negative tangible book value, be excited about the growth that is "just beginning". It has been the same for years ... continuous acquistions and can't make money with them at least not yet.
