Nortel. I think there is no company firing on all cylinders right now like NT except maybe SUNW. NT is kicking LU's ass big time and CSCO had better watch out. I am concerned that they will be able to hurt JDSU's growth rates. NT is a first class outfit that has a great pipeline of products and are greatly respected by their customer base which is huge! I think it would be a good thing for this board to do some DD with regards to NT's focus in this area of fiber and keep up with their progress and how it is affecting JDSU.
Thanks for the input and lets keep our efforts productive.
I was over at the NT board, both here and on Raging Bull. From what I see, NT did this to reduce, not replace, its dependency on JDSU. From what I am reading, the demand for fiber optics is so great, this will have little to no effect on JDSU. There are some good posts regarding this on NT board. NT is not in fiber, it simmply wants to reduce its dependency. I remember when HP (Ithink it was HP) pulled it's business from EMC, and EMC did take a hit for a day or two. I think that was a split or two ago. They were a big EMC customer, it was thought it would affect EMC big time, but it had lilttle to no effect, except on the stock price for a day or so. JMO
But, if JDSU loses just 10% of their business, this significantly decreases their Q/Q and Y/Y growth. With such a high valuation placed on the company, this will impact the price and earnings estimates the street will assign.
