Pie 5 should be opening at least 3 a quarter in they want to leap frog the competition. There are a number of new players entering the market and first mover advantage will be huge here. CMG's rollout looks as if they are going to take it slow, but they could easily ramp it up quickly. Not sure how much room there is for several competitors, either way they need to get aggressive or the opportunity will pass them buy. Mgt provides little of any guidance and acts as if this is a private company!
Pizza Inn is doing a good job growing their new brand. I am sure they were aware of Chipotle entering the space and there is a wide space fro fast and fresh pizza. CMG entering will only add to the awareness and it will still come down to cost and quality of product. Pie 5 has a lot of interest from former owners who know the biz very well. If they are willing to invest millions then I can spare a few thousand into PZZI shares.
As an investor we have to care what competition is up to. If you see the headaches McDonalds has with the wings they rolled out, then you understand that you can actually confuse patrons on what you do best. Chipolte may never ramp this up. They may recognize the movement and want to jump on the band wagon. I don't see them growing because of this additional item on the menu. Just like McDonalds didn't grow anything offering wings.
