If three percent is noise level, what happens in
the future when there is more noise (since the ERT
modules don't like noise). Does that three percent become
30% or 50%? ITRI is banking on repeat business.
Wouldn't this defeat that? FCC has speculated into opening
up the bandwidths to other commercial uses, and then
noise will be a huge problem to the current ERT's...

the meters were to be read by the the pole receivers?
3% failure rate isn't that much, but when you spread
them out over the entire area of DQE, you basically
have to drive the entire works. This doesn't make the
process very efficient And this is after additional pole
receivers were installed. Is their any word if or when
Itron will introduce an ERT module with 100mw of power
and true DSSS like Cellnet and others?
The reporter is interviewing a truck driver,every
few seconds a beep is heard,he explains that each
beep is another meter being read. He personelly knows
of someone who has read 10,000 meters in one 8 hr
work day using this drive by method.This method is
used on only 30,000 of the 1,000,000 or so in the DQE
system,the rest are to be read by recipe box size recievers
on utility poles. KDKA,WIIC,and WTAE all pgh station
maintain web sites.
