How likely is it that ABBV raises its dividend in 2014?

Took a position in ABBV this spring, largely for its dividend and the company's culture for paying a dividend and growing it. Just wanted to ask other shareholders, is the expectation reasonable that the company will be in a position to at least offer a modest (3-5%) dividend increase in 2014?

    Thanks in advance and GLTA.

    • IMHO, it will reward investors with div increase, provided revenues continue upswing. However, if it were up to me, I'd pay down some of the debt that ABBV got stuck with as part of split from ABT.

    • The odds are great that ABBV will raise the dividends in Feb. of 2014. I would guess it will raise it from 40 cents to 42 cents. I have owned ABT since 1961.

    • Was saddled with large debt load at birth, courtesy of splitsville. Would like to see Abbie pay down the debt instead of a di increase, but it's just me and fer sure a lot more folks would like the div to be inscreased. I say a lot depends on whether Abbie gets first to market with oral Hepattitis treatment. If it does, it may decide to increase the div marginally if debt is taken into consideration. It's battling Gilead and BMY to be first in market with oral Hep C treatment. Word is being the only one in the market (regardless of which company is first) will be short lived since all are expected to enter the market shortly after each other.

      Sentiment: Hold
