Keep your eye on the ball here:
Well, that’s mildly passive aggressive of Steve Jobs, don’t you think? By now, you’ve surely heard about all the patent infringement lawsuits that Apple has launched against companies like Samsung, but it looks like the real target isn’t these manufacturers at all: it’s Google.
Think about that for a moment. Rather than going after the Googs directly, Apple is systematically approaching the various manufacturers that produce Android tablets. In addition to Samsung, Apple also has active legal battles with the likes of Motorola and HTC, among others, citing “slavish copying” of the Apple design.
That is correct. As everybody knows Apple is goin after Google. After all, their CEO stole Apple's idea and came up with buying and pushing copycat Andorid while he was on the Apple Board
This why Apple hid from Schmidt the iPad development and th only reason Google is so far behind on that :http://www.businessinsider.com/steve-jobs-hid-ipad-development-from-eric-schmidt-2011-4
So, what does Google need to defend itself. Patents and fast! But, despite the hype they may not buy IDCC's as these are ALREADY licensed to Apple until 2014 and so have very limited near term litigation use.
That is why I do not think IDCC will be bought. Google's lawyers will realize they can't defend Android near term with them (and who needs 3 years out!) and Apple can't buy them or they will be accused or anti-trust after Nortel.
So, I think IDCC will be a good long term stock to own, but it will settle down near term and NOT be bought out!
The totality of all 3G and 4G patents can be thought of as a finite resource. IDCC owns roughly 15% of this resource.
This scarce resource is very valuable and is currently up for sale.
The big players have lots of cash and are in fierce competition in a winner-take-most, rapidly expanding market that's worth tens of billions in annual operating profits going forward.
Each player wants to gain control of IDCC's 15% share of the finite and necessary resource.
The machinations will be legendary; the bidding epic.
You're an idiot, so you say waiting a few years to enter the patent race is in Google's best interest? LOL, Google will be history if that happens. If I was a Google shareholder I would be demanding they got their patent game in order for the impending war, NOW NOT LATER.

this is precisely why GOOG has to buy IDCC...u see?
GOOGLE is already stamping its feel like a little girl...crying that everyones against them....GOOLGE will want the Patents NOW...plus who knows what's in the 10,000 patents in for approval....the time to strike is NOW...not waiting two years...The time to get patents NOW..to start next generation technology..NOT in two years....but that's okay...keep your short position..
