Its an interesting month the way everything sets up for NYX. Stock goes ex dividend the 12th, 17th is St. Patricks day so everyone should be sporting the green. Friday the 21st the markets closed for Good Friday so options close Thursday the 20th which is the first day of spring, a time of rebirth and growth. I like the symbolism. March is also the end of the first quarter so you might get some pumping up of asset values. FOMC meets on the 18th, like to see no cut and positive commentary on the forward looking economy as past cuts start taking effect, but consensus is 25-50 with inflation being mentioned again.
On the earings front its a gambler's paradise as aptly Churchhill downs announces on the 13 th in preparation for the main event the following week as the financials lead in the post parade by GS and LEH on the 18th. So do you cast your lot (an ode to the ides on the 15th) with the four horsemen or finance GS,LEH,MS and BSC or run with the hotstreaking commoditity names in the belief that Ben knows nothing and earns the helicopter moniker. Then for some of you, you might feel more confident finding this years 12/5 upset special in the tournament brackets (Upset was a horse who beat man o war the heavy fav. to keep the horse racing analogy alive.) March madness gotta love it, so place your bets and ask yourself do I feel lucky?
