ANYONE KNOW WHERE ALL THE WISE A$$ SHORTS ARE THESE DAYS???
I agree with the unfairness of shorting. If you own a stock, and wanted to sell it immediately, you should get the fair market price based on supply and demand. However, short selling artificially increases supply and presumably decreases what you would get on any stock you own. I don't have an issue with a mechanism that allows people to lend their shares, but agree those people should have the right to decide whether to lend their shares and be compensated for it. In the end, I guess you could control this by becoming the shareholder of record of all of your stocks, but this would increase your costs by fees related to ordering share certificates, along with the inconvenience and lack of instant liquidity.
