I wouldn't recommend DSX. But if you are looking for alternatives to SBLK, consider.....
NM... drybulk plus clean tankers and port logistics in SA. closed at 3.69 for a 6.5 percent yield. Good management.
SB... pure drybulk. closed at 3.37 for a 5.8 percetn yield. just cut dividend to a more sustainable level. still expanding fleet. Likeable management.
CPLP... mostly clean tankers. An MLP supported by parent. closed at 6.67 with a 13.9 percent yield. distribution should be safe for now. reports on a 1099, not a K-1. simpler at tax time.
Top recommendations in shipping... GMLP (29.68, 6.4%) and GLOG (12.31, 3.6%). liquefied natural gas midstream. distributions/dividends will increase... frequently. the LNG shipping sector will be ascending for many years.
Of course, waiting for SBLK to recover... or go to zero... are other options.
