I was wondering what anyones thought were on a TIN PKG merger given the recent RKT and SSCC merger.
My thought are that both TIN and PKG alone will have a much harder time competing against ip and the rktsccc combo. It was sort of a surprise that sscc was able to emerge. TIN and PKG are very similar imho
I would say a merger between PKG and TIN would be like oil and water. TIN is a comodity seller of huge quantities of corrugated, PKG is a professional boxmaker with a real sales force. Not sure where the synergies would be found.
Agreed for the most part. It would be good for each in a lot of ways but not ideal. There would be some serious shifts in how they operate but I dont think they are completely different. The strengths of each company could compliment each other well if the managed to accomplish it effectively (more so than IP and WY).
GP and TIN probably makes more sense in a lot of ways. But who knows if the Koch's would sell or if they want to expand.
