    • good points !

maybe with this climate it might make HCBK (and others) be more inclined to SELL OUT .

this climate gives buyers a chance to buy in the low of the cycle . When things where going and HCBK was 14+ a buyer might have to pay huge premium for it.

now with its stock low ?? interesting ? pluses and minus i think now really favors buy and hold M & A is very possible in markets like jersey TD has bot a few already , they are long term thinkers........more people will be buying an d bonds and stock as rates are so low TD might want to cross sell to HCBK old time cd holder and collect a lot of commish in the process ...

      good luck with bancorp!

    • Since I'm still a holder of HCBK stock in several accounts, I'd love to see somebody try to take them out, but I can't see it happening any time soon. Granted, HCBK's stock is "cheap" based on some of the metrics you've mentioned, but I don't think the current environment lends itself to a lot of takeover activity. Any outfit that would buy them would immediately become considerably larger, which isn't necessarily a good thing during a period where it's tough for the banks to make money. Plus, there would have to be one hell of a premium offered to force HCBK management's hand. Remember, the current HCBK management is likely out of a job as a result of any takeover, and after watching them in action for quite a few years, I don't think they're in any hurry to have that happen.

Eventually, the banks will be a good investment again, but it's going to take some time. Hopefully, in the end everybody will profit here, and our "patience will be rewarded"....

      Hang in there!

    • They have one more cleaning to do,with 7.925 billions left at an average rate of 4.47%,that will reduce the tangible B.V. from 8.89 to around 7.85.Then they can sell for 1.5 tangible B.V. or more.
