I have noted in several messages that I anticipate a huge move from housing to equities in one to two years. The mutual funds will need to appoint cash within 60 days and tech/biotech growth stocks will see a ton of funds clammering for shares. I also agree that RFMD management has grossly mislead investors with 7 consecutive quarters of wrong predictions. Ha, ha $3 to $5 billion in Polaris sales, so far $1/2 billion. No profits (well maybe a penny or four until 2007). I'm holding until I can get out. I prefer FNF, AAPL, CSCO, LEXR, WDC, etc. in my portfolio. Even LEXR board thinks that their CEO should quit but there situation was encumbered by forced losses caused by Toshiba/SNDK as much as a problematic business model. RFMD resembles SNDK since it has its own FAB-why can't RFMD make a profit?
I don't really know about polaris or motorola...but I do know that there is plenty of businsess out there for both RFMD and SWKS. I just think RFMD has disappointed one too many times and has created a biger hole to dig out of. I suppose one could wait for SWKS to fumble, but they seem to have pretty saavy management judging by the conference calls. I wonder if RFMD has any credibility left. Will see.
LOL, crash not cash. Decided to look in on the board and I find quite a few new names but your dialogue hasn't really changed much over the last few years. Still find nothing to make be buy back in at this time. Just wondering do you ever buy any RFMD stock or do you just enjoy ranting and raving on this board for your own gratification only?
I got very tempted at the recent low but May is no time to be adding positions.
It was mostly a large cap run anyway, which is one of the signs that the market breadth is getting thin. That is what you usually get at the end, just before major retests, where most stocks sit out rallies or at best just close gaps formed on the way to recent lows.
Really, all of semiconductors look unattractive. It isn't just rfmd. Thinking about switching sectors, into biotech or something that shows some growth promise for the next few years. It isn't going to be CSCO or INTC by the look of it.
