Whats behind the price weakness this week and the very high trade volumes (especially compared to the overall market which continues to have very light volume)?

    Is it from options expiration?
Is it a mutual fund selling?

No real news out to explain this, sure the company announced it would give away some of the future profit growth through an internal incentive plan, but that should not have been enough to move it this much.

I know they will have a tough time meeting the upcoming quarterly numbers, but I haven't seen any analysts notes issued this week or any company statements. The volume is way too large to not have a specific reason tied to it.

    Please only serious replies. Thanks.

    • Insiders who already know of the upcoming report (Its probably below) are dumping now.

      this is a conjecture

face it the market's gonna tumble, only thing holding it up is mass manipulation by those who refuse to see a market collapse until the election.

    • Looking at the syy chart/price ranges of 30 days ago when it closed at 31.00 on 8 16 04, must be a firm doing some tax wash selling or something up with a fund manager, after that low closed it rebound within the next weeks, also had look at the news and move of dean foods over the past week for some insight, but it's came back while syy went lower . Ex div. Not until the 29th. .
some may think the weather is to blame.

      • Any thoughts on the relative importance of conflicting hurricane-related factors. On one hand, terrible weather will reduce sales in the southeast. On the other hand, extensive power failures in that region will force restaurants, etc . to dispose of their ruined food supplies. Those inventories will have to be replaced in the form of increased sales for SYY. Which factor is greater?
