GE has a Facebook page as does Boeing, Caterpiller, Ford, Schlumberger, Goldman Sachs, Mercedes, Intel plus most other big solid cos --- The deal is, an old timey web site is like throwing a grain of sand on a beach, on the other hand a Facebook page is like hiring a pack of bloodhounds to go on the hunt --- forget the
teenie boppers folks --- Ask yourself why the above companies and their peers think it's worth while to have a Facebook page. I assure you its not to sort out who is taking whom to the Junior High prom !
Because it is a trend and everyone has been on FB. If the Trend dies, those pages will surely disappear. Its not like those companies have invested millions upon millions of $ on FB. when the fad dies so will the companies on FB. FB will probably never disappear completely, but who is to say that there will not come something else where FB will become "just another social medium"?
the question is how many companies, retailers, mfgs, social media, sports teams, celebrities, politicians that don't have a facebook page? Very hard to find. Any webmaster or social media adviser is going to insist on a facebook link.
