On the downside end, Mrs. John Edwards simply died. Mrs. Sanford got a divorce.
Hilarious Hilary, Mrs. Sprizler, and Anthony's wife all stood by their men; admirable, but hardly demonstrating female assertiveness or courage.
Can't recall any independent act(s) of bravery, though. Marriage is a contract; fidelity seems to be a choice. All IMHO.
