  • $800? They must not have needed the parts badly after all.

    • That's my point. The company DID say they needed the parts now and couldn't wait. Yet they were not willing to pay $800 for them. My friend was shocked. Guess even huge corporations are closely monitoring what they spend.

      • What it happening there is that some lower level manager is about to get his butt chewed out because he couldn't see the forest through the trees.

If it was truly only $800 and they needed the parts NOW, then they would have bought them. NOW means that production is at a standstill or at risk of becoming that way. My guess is that this was for some critical spare parts and that the manager is taking a risk.

The obviously didn't need them, or the manager is in a heap of trouble.

      • Obviously it wasn't a NEED, but rather a WANT. If it were critical to their overall business, they would have bought...$800 to a multinational with a reputation to protect? They would take a loss, and make sure the client KNEW that they did it just because they are such a valued customer...a loss leader for word of mouth advertising....PRICELESS, but a delay to Oct for the customer? HUGE negative PR.

The guy who made that decision will lose his job!

I'd have fired him in a heartbeat...5 hours BEFORE I even heard from the irate customer!!!
