You have to love Apple. They don't give their customers a laundry list of new things to buy, just one. This quarter it's the new MacBook Air.
The thing I am curious about is did Intel ship Apple the new i5 processors in the quarter they are reporting on today, or is it all coming in the quarter we are currently in? At the end of this quarter Apple will announce yet another fabulous quarter showing huge gains in computers. It will be Intel's time to shine as people are told "yes, you own an IPad, but what you really need is an Air with Thunderbolt."
The Ipad2 will still be somewhat relevant, but the hot gift for Christmas in the Mac world will be the Air. So, when the analysts are stating today that tablets are replacing PC's and Intel is old school, just smile at them and let them pretend they know what they are talking about. In 90 days they will be welcomed back to the cold, hard reality that people really like their tablets but deeply love their computers. Laptops and desktops will be around for a long time to come.
