Spent a lot of time at the Intel booth today. I got hands on with Medfield and saw their presentation. Also got to get my hands on the Clover Trail
Medfield is Atom for Android and Cloverfield is for Windows 8. Its the short description I got from them at the booth.
Long story short about Medfield, it's really amazing. Like I've said before phones are more graphics driven than processor driven. Except for running video. The presenter stopped and started it probably about 20 times at various points of the video. And it didn't miss a beat. I held the phone while it was doing this and it wasn't even warm.
The thing that impressed me the most was the 8mp camera. It did a 15 frame burst shoot in about one second in very dark conditions. The images weren't perfect, but they were the best I've ever seen a cell phone do.
People were crowding around the booth and it was a fight to get close to the products.
Long story short, Intel has a winner on its hands. And from what I can see the interest is very high on Intel products. The portion of the booth with Medfield was mobbed. I also ran the current 32nm netbok and watched it push 1080P video without a hitch.
Since this is a consumer show there were no servers or serious high end hardware. There were Ultrabooks everywhere in the booth. They were lovely. There was a lot of interest in them but the highest interest was in Medfield.
