Alex, how many share do you expect them to retire if they bought back 1 billion worth last Quarter? Do they retire a certain percentage of the shares bought?

    • I see no reason why their share buyback representative who is managing the buyback will not buy another $1b+ worth of shares or about 50m shares. Just my guess.

Since there are about 50 trading days per quarter, they would be buying back 1m per day.

      They bought back $1.5b, $1.1b, and $1.1b in Q1, Q2, and Q3 respectively. About 50m shares.

      They bought back $4b, $2b, $4b, $4.1b in 2011 Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4. $4b is about 180m shares.

You can examine their repurchase history yourself if you search the phrase:

    • I expect that they retire all they buy back. Any new shares distributed to employees are taken from a bucket of shares that are approved by shareholders at the annual meeting. The total number is described in the SEC form 8k and in every form 10q/10k.
