No one listens to Intel's news on mobile anymore. They've made a string of announcements in the last few years and failed miserably to capture 0.2% market share. Without market traction, most of the consumers of your newsbites are your employees and stock holders.
Things change fast in tech. When Android came out, who would have thought that within just a couple of years they would over take iOS as the dominant platform? What was Samsung's smartphone market share a couple of years ago? Now they are outselling the iPhone. Intel's next Medfield SoC will have LTE support to enter the US smartphone market. Mostly like Motorola will carry this SoC in their next superphone(s). We'll see how it compares to the iPhone and Samsungs very soon.
On the tablet side, within just a couple months since the Windows 8 launch you are already seeing PC convertibles and detachables exploding into the market. Beginning of next year, 7W Ivy Bridge parts will be available for OEMs to build more sleeker PC convertibles and detachables. After that Haswell comes out. Do you think these will not eat into the iPads and other larger tablets? The value proposition for these new touch-enabled PCs can't be ignored.
The old adage of Intel missing out on mobile is getting old.
