Sorry, but fab process won't fix it all.
Why don't read/listen TSMC CC or ASML CC
Even East figured out there is a problem - it will not change overnight but gradually it will start to sink in .
you don't even have to listen to Intel - listen to NVDA, BRCM, MRVL -
TI dumped huge investment in OMAP to move to greener analog pastures.
How excited was TI 12 months ago and now ?
Building something that isn't competitive or interesting in a better fab process won't save it. The strategy of using x86 architecture for everything *requires* better fab process to even get in the game.
Cloud systems use scale-out architecture, and that means that the processing power of each server is less important than in most enterprise systems. The way the servers communicate and manage memory will be more important than how fast the CPUs are. And don't tell me about all of Intel's network investments. They bought weak sisters behind the competition.
This is one sick old dog that used to win races, so everyone thinks it can win another race. The engineers can, the management team I have less confidence in.
