The day is not over yet but "Intel did not buy any". They contract with a 3rd party to buy shares. Intel gives that person a instructions or a plan on how to buy. They are restricted to buying at the BID or the LAST TRANSACTION PRICE. They are limited to the maximum number of shares that they can purchase. I think they are limited to 20% of the average of the last 5 days (or some similar algorithm) AND they cannot purchase in the last 10 minutes since Intel trading volume is high.
Yesterday's high volume will allow Intel to purchase a few more shares.
