Variety: Intel Staffing Up Call Center for Internet Cable TV Service
Intel is building out a large call-center operation internally dubbed “Audience Care” for the launch of an Internet television service targeted for later this year — a first for the chip giant, which has never had a direct-to-consumer business before.
Demos in Santa Clara, staffing up customer care and two years of publicity about how Intel is going to revolutionize the TV industry - but Still NO service. And now Huggers is telling the press there are all sorts of partnership opportunities with the MSOs. This is a very different message Intel was giving the beginning of the year when it was going to be 100% Intel and Intel was going to compete directly against cable operators and it suggests Intel is not able to execute on its strategy.

Intel will have to initially over-pay for content to break through the cable company monopoly. Later on, not so much. Someone is going to do successful IP TV. It might as well be Intel. They have the money, the muscle and the technology. Just because there are challenges is no reason not to do it. No guts, no glory...]
