Warren Buffett buys $199M stake in Intel

    Staff Portland Business Journal

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway on Thursday disclosed a raft of new investments, including 9.33 million shares of Intel Corp. valued at $199 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports that the new investments -- which include stakes in CVS Caremark and DirectTV -- were likely made by Berkshire's new investment manager Todd Combs rather than Buffett himself.
The investment in the Santa Clara, Calif.-based chip-maker -- Oregon's largest private employer with 16,000 workers in Washington County -- wasn't the biggest headline-grabber among Berkshire's new holdings.

Bloomberg reports that Buffett spent more than $10 billion for International Business Machines Corp. stock, marking it his biggest investment in the third quarter.
