Problem with Clover Trail was performance, Bay Trail fixes that
Problem with Ivy Bridge was battery life, Haswell fixes that
Problem with Intel-based phones was it did not have LTE, XMM 7160 fixes that
Bay Trail isn't out yet, and snapdragon has been on the market for years. So the comparison is useless pr. Intel is going to struggle to keep its current market share.
Look for 20/share soon.
This is OLD NEWS. Vintage June/July and is a rehash of the AnTuTu results that were leaked out where the Bay Trail results were based on AnTuTu optimizations that were corrected.
Don't get too excited.
Looks like someone from tomhardware also got to the leak, but article written in French
using google translator, here's the part about performance:
Intel, in course tests to be taken lightly , said the Z3770 (2.4GHz maximum) is 50 % faster than the Snapdragon on SPECint_base_2000 800 and 60 % faster on SPECint_rate_base_2000 and it is also significantly faster than Tegra 4 chip NVIDIA. Windows 8 , the chip that is almost 4x faster than RT area ( with an antique Tegra 3 ) and more than two times faster than the current tablet equipped with Atom , the Z2760 .
In games ( 3D Mark Ice Storm) , the Intel HD is almost 5x faster than the Atom Z2760 and about 2.5x faster than the Adreno Snapdragon ."
Battery life versus operating mode will be the big number.
Background programs making the device more human friendly ... preference monitoring.
There may be "enough" performance with the processors of today but not in the power envelop that I am happy with.
