>>See Stempel's letter to shareholders for 2004. He mentions Batteries, PV and OUM. Not one word regarding OHS. Stan does discuss the hydrogen economy and the potential for hydrogen storage and fuel cells in his letter.

So what? It is expectable that they would talk more about the three further-along commercializations. As posted at least several times recently and through several years, below is the official, BOD-directed, well-focused, commercialization plan stated in Aug 04, and there has been no deviation since:
<<<The core commercial businesses on which the company is focusing are:
 United Solar Ovonic Corp.  a wholly owned subsidiary, manufacturing and selling its proprietary lightweight flexible Ovonic solar panels and photovoltaic systems for a variety of applications into a rapidly expanding market;
 Cobasys  a 50-50 joint venture with ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures LLC (ChevronTexaco) that manufactures and markets proprietary prismatic Ovonic NiMH batteries for hybrid vehicles, telecommunications, and stationary energy-storage applications. These battery systems are the enabling technology for the rapidly growing hybrid vehicle market;
 Ovonyx, Inc.  41% owned by ECD, develops and licenses its proprietary Ovonic Unified Memory (OUM), a non-volatile memory technology that is currently being commercialized by Intel, STMicroelectronics and BAE;
 Texaco Ovonic Hydrogen Systems a 50-50 joint venture with ChevronTexaco that is developing and commercializing its proprietary reversible solid metal-hydride-based low-pressure hydrogen storage systems for a variety of stationary and transportation applications.>>>
>>Also, in the last CC an analyst asked if "OHS as now the 4th leg" and Stempel basically said it would be correct to look at it that way. It might not be "brand new thinking" but it is different from the 3 legs Stempel and Metzger discussed not so long ago. The 3 legs were Cobasys, Uni-Solar and Ovonyx and they were described as the focus areas that represented the near-term opportunities ECD would be focused on.<<
While they have spoken more about those three of the four legs, it is a clear and undeniable fact that they have also kept us abreast of the activity re OHS many times. And, these communications have emphasized the important reasons for their adherence to this important leg. However, the OHS work has been kept at a low level while seeking an investor or strategic partner. UniSolar has received the overwhelming monetary and effort support from ECD which is smart and proper. Management deserves credit and praise for a properly-focused, properly-balanced program. The investors deserve a kick in the butt (however, not you so much) for being outrageously stupid and unfair in their ranting about management.
>>new Coghill tail that will soon be waging the dog.
Stan was the tail that wagged this dog. Stempel did not run the company, he was hired as a deep bass voice figurehead, Stan's mouthpiece.
THAT is why the CC was useless information and the stock price should be higher than it was before the CC. The REAL news for 2007 is that ENER has powerful competent new management coming in, H&S will select for competence, not compatability with Stan - so will Coghill.
From our own DD, we can guess what a competent CEO will see as he interviews with insiders at ENER, the same thing we see from the outside - that the company is rich with resources yet to be mined simply due to incompetent management. No other company in the world possesses such a vast concentration of resources, so a competent CEO will not turn down this job offer. Therefore, ENER will be able to choose from amongst the most competent CEO's on the market today, without Stan's interferring need for a mindless mouthpiece.

So ECD has a management head, four legs of business and today we just learned about a new Coghill tail that will soon be waging the dog.

I would not require my army to fight with one hand tied behind my back. I served in the military during the Vietnam war. YOu would have given Ike three months to whip the Nazi's and pulled MacArthur back to San Diego and told him to forget the Philipines. I do know real from unreal and Coghill's movement is a hell of lot more important for change than anything you are associated with.
"Sometimes Ray's onionating makes us all cry . . . "
Sometime soon our opinion is going to make Ray cry. It's over gang, this will move very fast. There is much more in motion than you can imagine. Top management changes will come very soon or board changes will come first - then management changes. I seriously doubt that the board can fight the inevitible since they are skating on very thin ice with so many infilled board seats. If they try to reload with cronies they WILL BE SUED. If they bring in independents - they know who will be gone fast. We are "in play" in the sense that structural changes will happen soon, or even bigger changes will follow and that could led to what many of us fear - a hostile take-over at a too low price - ie, $40, $50, $60. For the good of the cause, Stempel will have to fall on his all-too-handy sword.
