I have been reading that the new ACA(Obamacare) will have a negative effect for MAKO because of the 2.3% added tax on units sold....but has anyone considered the number of potential customers in the 45 to 64 year old range that until now have not been able to get health insurance for their knees or hips because of exclusions about pre-existing conditions...If this new potential pool of consumers, many with pre-existing conditions that have previously been excluded by insurance companies now will be able to get their knee and hip surgery are considered wouldn't this have an overall positive effect for MAKO in the future...anyone have thoughts on this topic..
I am driving 160 miles to see a MakoPlasty Dr. next week, because there is no Dr. in my local area that does this surgery. So, if hospitals see a good market being outside their area, they will add Rio systems and Drs. as part of their efforts to serve their communities and profit from the new market. A potential pool of referrals from previously uncovered patients would obviously help as well.
This does not suggest that I see Obamacare as a good thing as it stands and was written..
