I sort of consider the $15 cost mentioned as an investment in the future, but have no idea how our government will view it in the future. Good chance that our government will remain short sighted. We will be in an awful position when liquid fuels become tight. How would your life be at $7 a gallon. $15? Unavailable at any price?

A number of years ago the Navy proposed developing rare earth supplies domestically. We didn't do it and China has cornered the market using it as an economic and political weapon. About the same thing and we will probably do about the same thing again.
