Why would they come out with earnings based on diluted shares etc. . . It makes the numbers look worse when there not and it scares alot of people out and drives the share price down. The analysts may all understand diluted shares and growth and all of that, but your average shmoe doesn't.
Also, I think analyst or not -- there's a psychological effect in your head when the number that HP comes out with is below the magic first call # the Analysts were all looking for.
