An excellent summary for the ZTE Geek U998S powered by Tegra 4

    SOURCE: Mobile Witch, July 15

The ZTE Geek U988S is the first mobile phone powered by the quad-core Tegra 4 and has just been announced by Chinese manufacturer ZTE. The phone was initially expected to feature an Intel processor inside, but instead it will be powered by the NVIDIA produced chip. The Tegra 4 will be clocked at 1.8GHz and will be backed up by 2GB of RAM onboard.

There are also other changes brought to the device and they include an improvement in the screen's resolution from the initial 720 x 1280 to the actual 1080 x 1920, and the sensor on the front-facing snapper being doubled to 2-megapixels from the original 1-megapixels. The camera on back will remain at 8-megapixels, however.

With all the updated specs that ZTE has decided to launch the phone, it is a real shame that this model will only be released in China for China Mobile, currently the largest mobile operator in the world.

In case you have forgotten, we can tell you that the original ZTE Geek was introduced on April 10th and was initially supposed to launch in this year’s third quarter. There is no available information on whether the phone will keep that launch date time period or not, but we’ll let you know as soon as more news surfaces.
3 upgrades for the ZTE Geek from the original concept phone announced in April:

---Processor changed from Intel Clovertrail to Tegra 4 (probably based on performance alone, having nothing to do with the recent scandal of Intel CHEATING AGAIN.
--Screen upgraded due to T4 capability
--Front upgraded due to T4 capability
