The Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS) announced earnings of Canadian $1.77B, or C$1.37 per share, in its third quarter financial results of fiscal year 2013. The bank’s earnings this quarter were down almost 14% compared to last year’s C$2.05B, with C$1.69 earnings per share. Scotiabank raised its quarterly dividend from C$0.60 to C$0.62 per share. CEO Rick Waugh commented that the company’s strongest earnings growth came from its banking and wealth management lines of business, while international banking and services continued to yield steady growth. Revenue was C$5.60B this quarter, up slightly from last year. The bank did not amend its annual guidance as it expects to meet all of its goals while positioning itself well for next year.
