just got it in my scottrade as well. My advise that if you're holding for long time than you can sell calls to lower your purchase price. Some out of money call could generate a thousand or two if you're selling 10 contracts (1000 shares). If it go up than you would cap your profit but you can always buy it back if you think it can go up higher and it will serve as a stop if it goes up and come back down.
I look at my 2k as 2 seperate 1k investments. 1k is fior trading and 1k is liocked away in my portfolio. The 1k i trade i usually sell covered calls against. I am waiting for icahn to do/say something to drive the pps up and then i will look to sell those calls. Otherwise, i just hold and wait. Jmho-bucko
