I was getting ready to respond to your earlier message about the southern part of the Utica fairway being the most promising area of the Utica when this announcement popped up. IMO you are absolutely "right on" in your earlier comment. I suggest that today's announcement is sort of an attack on any nervous, fainthearted competitors by the MWE Marcellus Juggernaut rolling into the Utica. The VERY positive results from Gulfport and Antero drilling added to EVEP postponing of its' sale of leases in the more northern areas is tremendously supportive of this. Add in the sort of retreat by CHK no matter how it's spun, and you have the makings of another real score by Team Markwest. The beautiful reality here is that even if the Utica falls flat MWE's Marcellus action is so big (Think Antero in the Sherwood area and a projected 800million cuft/day of cryo) that the Harrison complex could be probably be filled from the Marcellus side alone. Also, what is amazing to me is that MWE from the beginning placed its' facility locations right in the midst of what appears now to be the best NGL action in the Utica. This wasn't a flipping of the coin type of decision, either. With all the facilities.pipelines etc coming on line in the next 12 months the MWE DCF in 2014-2015 is going to be monumental.
hachi with MWE being in the Appalachia for so many years before Marcellus surfaced as the hot area; they had gained so much information insight and developed a network of such strong knowledgeable contacts that they have translated this into $$. So it is not a matter of if, now, it is just how big of bite they can take as you indicated. yes MWE is truly a superb team and their motto, execute, execute, execute is how they work every day
