I don't think people fully appreciate the still unrealized potential of the Oraquick product. HIV is a huge taboo in our society and the idea of anybody other than the individual taking the test knowing the results is unthinkable, scary, embarrassing. No other test that I'm aware of lets you take the test at home, is FDA approved, and gives you results in 20 minutes... NO OTHER TEST. The market is huge and a good portion of the market is recurring meaning that for a lot of people it isn't necessarily a one-time test. Sexually active individuals, college students, people who like to party, healthcare providers, and many other groups can be target-marketed to (and haven't been so yet). It's the #1 Best Seller in Multidrug Tests on Amazon and has been every time I've checked it over the last week.
the street doesn't actually care what they sell or what the revenues or profits. when a market-maker speaks, they simply want to move the stock. they could be manipulating this for any number of reasons (the easiest of which is options) or even to liquidate inventory collected (by themselves or clients) into hands of retail buyers. these markets are now akin to the LA street reaction to george zimmerman jury verdict.... FACTS DON'T MATTER. did anyone see CNBC Fast Money yesterday? they were positive on TSLA... I find it hard to believe they didn't get a call from a Goldman trader asking them to pump the stock yesterday...wanna bet the Najarian brothers made $$$$ on options today along with Goldman crooks? LOL
...and that's not to mention the bulk sales to organizations across the world that provide the test to individuals for low or no cost...and no one, either individuals taking an HIV test or administering an HIV test, really wants to have to do a test that requires blood-letting...this stock has upside potential...
the vast majority of sales to UNAIDS or to other foreign countries is the very cheap blood-based HIV tests. they are inexpensive (the primary issue), easily shipped (in cargo containers), can endure the wide fluctuations in day/night/cargo temperature, and have a long shelf-life, which is very important for purchasing, warehousing, distribution. these and other competition issues are why orasure hasn't tried very much to pursue foreign sales or discounted oraquick under $1 to UNAIDS or Gates Foundation.
